VALERIAN EXTRACT
Valerian extract has shown to decrease sleep latency (the time it takes to fall asleep), improve sleep quality and decrease awakenings .
In a double blind study 44% of patients reported perfect sleep and 89% reported improved sleep.
In another double blind study where 121 patients either received a valerian root extract or the placebo results showed that the patients receiving the valerian root extract had a decrease in insomnia symptoms.
Another study has showed that insomnia can be triggered by the effects of stress.

Passionflower extract has shown a significant improvement in the management of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
Passionflower extract is also used for stress and anxiety
In two studies consisting of 198 patients the efficacy of benzodiazepine and passionflower extract in the treatment of anxiety disorder was reviewed. One study showed that passionflower was as effective as benzodiaze0pines. the studies also showed a lower rate of drowsiness with passionflower extract compared with the benzodiazepines.

L-THEANINE
In a double blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial results have shown significant improvement in stress related symptoms, sleep latency and sleep disturbance when L-Theanine and placebo was compared.
The above mention study showed that stress related symptoms (i.e. depression and anxiety) scores decrease and cognitive function scores improved after 4 weeks of L-Theanine treatment. L-Theanine treatment was safe and well complied with.
